A number of months back OPAL was delighted to receive a visit from Gabriel Kijambu, founder of the Luwero Community Project in Uganda. He asked OPAL to help with a number of projects, one of which was a visionary idea to create a lending library of Christian books for the local community. This would help to increase a reading culture among the local people and also be a way of sharing the Christian message through Christian books.
So OPAL quickly got to work selecting a range of books from those that have been donated to us, including Bibles, Bible study resources, devotional books, Christian biographies, missionary biographies and books for children. In all we provided a library of over 1500 books.
One of our OPAL team previously worked as a librarian, so put together instructions on how to set up and operate a lending library. Last week we were delighted to hear that the books for the community library had arrived in Luwero. Please pray for the friends there as they set up the library, and that it becomes a hub in the community for adults and children to learn more about the Christian faith.
