Reaching Europe Through Translation

OPAL continues to support translation projects that make biblical resources available to communities with limited access to Christian materials. Being able to read books in your own language, makes all the difference in the world - especially to people in the Basque region. 

Euskara is possibly Europe’s oldest surviving language and is unrelated to any other known language. And for Basque people, fiercely proud of their independence, it is central to their identity. 

Traditionally Catholic but now one of the most secular parts of France and Spain, many people have never even met an evangelical Christian. To help resource evangelism in the region OPAL, together with ministry partners, translated ‘Knowing the Good News’. This book is now being used in one-to-one conversations and small group discussions to share the gospel with unbelievers and help new Christians build a firm foundation for their faith.
